RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a Patent Counsel turning innovation in the area of plant biotech and breeding into effective IP value. Our multidisciplinary, international team supports BASF's cutting-edge innovation pipeline dedicated to the development of novel seeds and traits.
This is what you can expect:

You will acquire in-depth knowledge of the technologies, strategies and objectives of the areas you cover to achieve

business objectives.

You will analyse BASF's research and development results with regard to the protectability and value of achievable protection.

You will be responsible for protecting these results with intellectual property rights.

You will be involved in IP contract negotiations and drafting of IP contracts.

You will analyse third-party intellectual property rights with regard to their scope of protection and their impact on possible BASF products and processes.

In this context, you will advise the business unit on all available options.

You will design patent portfolios that are optimally aligned with the business strategy and ensure that they are used worldwide to enforce business interests.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
You have completed your studies in breeding, genetics or biochemistry / biotechnology.
-
A good understanding of digital (breeding) technologies is a plus.
-
You have a strong affinity with Intellectual Property. Preferably you have professional experience in a patent department or in a patent law firm.

Qualification as European Patent Attorney is a plus.

Basic knowledge of IP contracts is a plus.

Convincing and business fluent communication in English Is necessary.

You are curious and open minded with a sound understanding of business interests.

You are known as a good team player.
